WHOLISTIC NUTRITION COURSE
and
BASIC ANATOMY, PHYSIOLOGY, and CHEMISTRY COURSE


We are proud to announce the reintroduction of the Living Energy Wholistic Nutrition Course - by correspondence - for those students interested in furthering their knowledge in the field of nutrition. In addition to the Wholistic Nutrition Program, Living Energy is now offering basics in Anatomy, Physiology, and Chemistry -- our "BACK to BASICS" program (also via correspondence).

The following is an outline summary of both of these courses. If you would like more detailed information please contact Contact Dr. Radka at Living Energy.

BACK TO BASICS (Anatomy, Physiology, and Chemistry).

Module One - Chemistry Basics:
Lesson 1: Introduction to chemistry basics. An overview of biochemistry and organic chemistry.
Lesson 2: From a cellular perspective. Components of cells; cellular fluids; cell organization
Lesson 3: Nutrition and metabolism (part one). Overview of metabolism (difference between anabolism, catabolism); role of water in metabolism; carbohydrates, fats, and proteins in relation to metabolic processes.
Lesson 4: Nutrition and metabolism (part two). Cellular respiration (glycolysis, citric acid cycle, electron transport system); regulation of cellular respiration.
Lesson 5: Regulation of body activities. An overview of the hormones in the body; mechanisms of hormone action; prostaglandins.

Module Two - Anatomy and Physiology I:
Lesson 1: Introduction to human anatomy.
Lesson 2: Introduction to the skeletal system.
Lesson 3: Skeletal system (skull, spine, ribs).
Lesson 4: Skeletal system (shoulder, arm, elbow, hand).
Lesson 5: Skeletal system (pelvis, hip, leg, knee, foot).
Lesson 6: The musculature of the body.

Module Three - Anatomy and Physiology II:
Lesson 1: Nervous system and Brain.
Lesson 2: Auditory and Ocular systems (ears and eyes)
Lesson 3: Circulatory system (including the heart).
Lesson 4: Lymphatic and Immune systems.
Lesson 5: Respiratory system (upper and lower).

Module Four - Anatomy and Physiology III:
Lesson 6: Digestive system (including accessory organs).
Lesson 7: Urinary system.
Lesson 8: Reproductive system (men and women).
Lesson 9: Endocrine system.
Lesson 10: Skin.

The course is divided into four (4) modules, and each module is divided into lessons. Each lesson begins with a list of objectives and concludes with review homework questions that must be completed and handed in to Living Energy for marking.
There will be an open-book exam at the conclusion of each module. You must complete and successfully pass the exam for each module before moving on to the next.


Although this is a stand-alone program, it is an essential requirement for all students who are taking the Wholistic Nutrition Program. If students have already studied these topics, they may qualify for exemption from any or all of the modules in this course. In order to do so, they must contact Living Energy with proof of prior study. Depending on the extent of the prior study students may be asked to challenge (and pass) the exam for whichever module they desire to be exempt from. (Please refer to our
Terms and Conditions for more information).


SUMMARY OF THE WHOLISTIC NUTRITION COURSE
(Levels 1-3).


The Living Energy Wholistic Nutrition Course is a detailed study of nutrition from a wholistic perspective - for which 24 months (2 years) total of study time have been allotted for the completion of Levels 1-3, including examinations.

The correspondence part of the course is divided into three (3) main levels with each level divided into modules, and each module further divided into lessons. Each lesson relates to a different aspect of health and nutrition -- and each begins with a list of objectives and concludes with review homework questions that must be completed and handed in to Living Energy for marking.
An assignment is also given for each Level of the Nutrition course.
There will be an open-book exam at the conclusion of each Level. You must complete and successfully pass the exam for each level before moving on to the next level.


LEVEL ONE (Requirements for Perfect Nutrition).


Module One - Requirements:
Lesson 1: Requirements for proper nutrition.
Lesson 2: Proteins.
Lesson 3: Carbohydrates.
Lesson 4: Fats.
Lesson 5: Basic food groups, and general nutrition requirements; comparative study with international food groups.
Lesson 6: Water and its benefits.
Lesson 7: Fibre and its benefits in the body.

Module Two - The Environment:
Lesson 1: The Environment – Part I
Lesson 2: The Environment – Part II
Lesson 3: The Environment - Part III
Lesson 4: Dairy products.
Lesson 5: Caffeine.
Lesson 6: Sodium
Lesson 7: Alcohol and Tobacco
Lesson 8: Sugar

Module Three - Balancing the Body:
Lesson 1: Food, Energy, and Weight management
Lesson 2: Juicing and its health benefits
Lesson 3: Vegetarianism, Meat, and Raw foods.
Lesson 4: Food combining and Low Acid diets
Lesson 5: Fasting, and Cleansing.


LEVEL TWO (Vitamins, Minerals, and Superfoods)
(Prerequisite Level One)

A very detailed look at the vitamins and minerals necessary for proper health and function.

Module One - Vitamins:
Lesson 1: Introduction to vitamins and minerals.
Lesson 2: Fat soluble vitamins.
Lesson 3: B-vitamins (part one).
Lesson 4: b-vitamins (part two).
Lesson 5: Vitamin C and Bioflavonoids.

Module Two - Minerals:
Lesson 1: Macro-minerals (part one).
Lesson 2: Macro-minerals (part two).
Lesson 3: Micro-minerals (part one)
Lesson 4: Micro-minerals (part two).
Lesson 5: Heavy metals and toxic elements.

Module Three - Super foods, Requirements for Different Stages of Life:
Lesson 1: Different lessons on the different superfoods available on the market today, and their uses in the body.
Lesson 2: Requirements for infants and kids
Lesson 3: Requirements for teens, adults, and seniors.
Lesson 4: Requirements for athletes.
Lesson 5: Requirements during Pregnancy and on birth control pill.
Lesson 6: Requirements during PMS and Menopause.


LEVEL THREE (Beyond the Basics)
(Prerequisite Level Two)

This Module details a number of different disease processes that can impact the human body and gives natural suggestions (primarily focused on nutrition and supplements) to support the body and promote wellness. The following is a brief overview of the Module:

Module One:
A number of different lessons related to disorders of the digestive system (including Candida and parasites) and the supportive role that nutrition can play. Also looks at headaches and migraines and how they can be managed wholistically.

Module Two:
A number of different lessons related to disorders of the respiratory and urinary systems, as well as a look at different ailments that befall kids, and the supportive role nutrition can play.

Module Three:
A number of different lessons related to disorders of the skin, muscular system, and circulatory system from both a medical and natural perspective (including acne, eczema, psoriasis, warts, and hypertension) and the nutritional support that can be given.

Module Four:
A number of different lessons related to more severe disease processes that can affect the human body, and the supportive role nutrition can play. Includes stress, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, prostate problems (men), HIV/AIDS, cancer, diabetes, and thyroid problems.



SUMMARY OF WHOLISTIC NUTRITION COURSE -
LEVEL FOUR (Advanced Nutrition).
(Prerequisite Levels 1-3, plus Back to Basics Program)


Nutrition Course Level Four (Advanced Nutrition) is available to those students who have successfully completed Nutrition Course Levels 1-3, and the Back to Basics (Anatomy, Physiology, and Chemistry) Program, and who want to further their career or knowledge in the Natural Health Field by attaining a certificate in "Advanced Nutrition".

Each student will be expected to participate in a 5-day workshop which will include studies in:
* Tissue salts
* Nail, Face, and Tongue assessment
* Case Taking
* Business information including set-up; legalities of practice; ethics

To successfully complete the Advanced Nutrition part of the course, each student will be expected to partake in a one hour closed-book written exam, and a one PRACTICAL EXAM which will involve each student being able to successfully complete a "mock consultation" where the student will be the practitioner.

HOMEWORK LESSON QUESTIONS and ASSIGNMENTS.

Each Level is comprised of modules which conclude with lesson questions. These are homework questions and each set of lesson questions must be answered, and marked, before moving on to the next lesson.

For the correspondence portion of the course, there are also three(3) assignments - one for each Level. Each assignment must be completed in full and handed in to Living Energy for marking before you can take the exam and proceed to the next Level of the Nutrition Course. The marks for the assignment contribute to overall mark needed to pass each Level of the course.

There is NO assignment for the Back to Basics (A&P) course.



Each student must complete, and successfully pass, each Level of the Nutrition Course before they can move on to the next level.


FEES.

(All costs are payable in Canadian funds only and are all subject to 5% GST).

* BACK TO BASICS COURSE:
Module 1: $ 190.00 each (plus GST).
Module 2: $ 190.00 each (plus GST).
Modules 3 & 4: $ 380 (for both) (plus GST).

(note: modules 3 & 4 are sold together as a package and cannot be sold separately)

OR

If all four modules of the BACK TO BASICS COURSE are purchased at the same time, the cost is discounted to:
$ 650.00 total plus GST.



* WHOLISTIC NUTRITION COURSE
Levels One, Two, and Three: $ 750.00 each (plus GST).

OR

If all three levels of the WHOLISTIC NUTRITION COURSE are purchased at the same time, the cost is discounted to: $2100.00 total plus GST.



* WHOLISTIC NUTRITION COURSE - Level Four (Advanced)
$ 800.00 each (plus GST).

(NOTE: Students must have successfully completed and passed all previous levels of the Nutrition Program, along with the Back to Basics program)

Cost includes all course material, (except the required text and reading material*), all administration fees, tutorial support, and one exam fee for each course level.
For "Back to Basics" program, cost includes all course material (except the required textbook and reading materials*), all administration fees, tutorial support, and one exam fee for each module.

Course material will be sent by Canada post, or can be picked up, in person, by the student (except Nutrition Four where workbook information will be handed out in person). There is no additional charge for Canadian students; international students need to contact Living Energy for current shipping/handling charges.

* A list of required text books and reading material is given to the student upon registration. Students are responsible for obtaining their own copies of books, or they can be purchased from Living Energy.

Method of Payment:
Until further notice, accepted methods of payment are cash (paid in person), or by credit-card cheque (no actual credit cards), or money order - payable in Canadian funds only. A $20 fee will be incurred for NSF cheques.
